This review is about a resort nested inside the famous Woodlands, TX. Surrounded by flora and fauna on all sides, you get access to the golf courses, lazy river, pool area with splash pads. This is a family resort and kids will definitely enjoy it here. This place may be a little too successful, though because since there are so many guests-they really don’t have all that much time to deal with each individual one. I felt that, through the whole stay.

Location

As I stated earlier, this resort shares space with a resort aptly called “The Woodlands resort”, don’t get confused. But also with “The Woodlands Country Club”. There are several onsite places to eat, including Back Kitchen, the poolside bar, the lobby bar, and Harrisons.

The Room

The King Bedroom
The King Bedroom

The room I was assigned to was large, stayed cool, and was accompanied by a larger than expected bathroom. Including a decent shower. If that was all that had been in the room, I would have been satisfied. But throughout the entire stay, we had to battle with the worst insect over whose room this really was.

Lord of the flies…

When we checked in, there were 15–20 flies in the room from the curtains to the bathroom. They went for any light source they could find. It was disgusting. We had maintenance kill a round of them, then vacuum them up. Then we had our own solo missions to assassinate king wingy. By the end of the stay we had become master fly killers, a skill I wish we had not had to develop.

Breakfast

Breakfast was a turning point for this resort. It was one of the better breakfasts I have had in North America. The fried chicken, biscuits, and pancakes were truly outstanding. The mac and cheese and coffee was heavenly as well. They gave us free breakfast as an apology, and as a way to fly-by-night any type of room change due to the overbooking.

Service

Remember when I said they were a little too successful? It showed whenever I was trying to get any service. It took entirely too long to get someone to get me a drink or food at the bar, and the line to check in was an hour. I truly don’t understand why they don’t hire more staff if they are so busy. It truly left a bad taste in my mouth.

Overall Score

If it weren't for the incredible breakfast, this resort would have been squared away as mediocre and nasty. But due to the breakfast and nice sized rooms, I will give this place a 3/5.

The location, great, the service-slow. The room, nasty but the food great. I’m torn on this one, but I can’t give it anything higher than a middle of the road. It’s not too bad, but also I’d rather not come again.
