This is Joely, the wife, writing a post on here for the first time! Since Jarai and I took separate flights home from Thailand, I thought I’d share my distinct experience of flying Business on Thai Airways.

The Aircraft and Seat

For my flight from Bangkok to Tokyo, I’m fairly certain it was a 767-300 with a 1-2-1 seat configuration in Business class. In other words, the seat was just the perfect amount of room with sufficient storage space. Moreover, the seat was very comfortable, and I was able to get in a good hour or 2 of sleep laying flat. But the best part of the seat, and the theme of the airline in general, is that it was purple, my favorite color! Everything was purple, including their delicious signature drink, Violet Bliss. And yes, the drink did live up to its name while also perfectly describing my experience 😄

The Food

Thai food is some of the best in the world, and this airline certainly lived up to expectations! In fact, the Thai options on the menu were curated by Michelin. The same boba used in boba tea, but it was clear and accompanied by noodles, vegetables, and broth. It was surprisingly good, but then again, I love me some good boba. What was really good, though, was the pork curry meat pie for lunch. Just see for yourself!

The Service

You can’t go wrong with service on Asian airlines, and Thai Airways was no exception. They may not be the speediest, as it took about a minute for a flight attendant to come after pushing the service button (compared to ANA and JAL, where they’ll come within seconds). However, they made up for it at the end when they personally thanked me and asked me for my thoughts on the experience.

Overall Score

This might be one of my favorite experiences flying International Business class, easily Top 3. (I’m totally not giving them my high praises because of their purple theme… but it certainly helps :P) Really, the only knock I have against them is that the Wi-Fi didn’t work on my flight. With a good variety of in-flight entertainment on high quality, responsive screens to keep me entertained, though, I was hardly remiss. As such, this airline more than lives up to its “Smooth as Silk” tagline and deserves no lower than a…
