What a trip! On complete accident, I got to fly Qatar’s Qsuites on their longest flight from Doha to Dallas (17 hours!). Spoiler, I now understand why Qatar Airways is consistently voted either #1 or in the top 3 of the best Airlines in the world. I can also understand why everyone goes so cookoo for these business seats. They Might as well be first class seats with their comfort, storage, and space.
The Suite
The suite is MASSIVE. It’s also comfortable. But what makes it truly special is the technology associated with the seat. There is an HDMI port so you can use your 4k screen as a monitor or TV. There is an NFC payment terminal (Apple Pay some gucci while flying?), enough IO to make twitch want to change their domain name, and a DOOR. A full door. You can close that bad boy and have ultimate privacy in the air.
The Food
I experienced world-class food on the ground and in the air. They have similar menus and food items whether you are in the lounge or flying. Some of my favorite dishes included the Lamb Kebab, the fried shrimp noodles, and the delicious ah chef’s smooch filet mignon. The ice cream was also freshly made and so good! Some of the best fixings on a flight I have ever had.
Scratch that, this is the best food I have had on any flights
Service
Unmatched. I mean, what can I say? Their service is over the top. When I checked into the lounge, they gave me a tour of the facilities. They brought drinks and food and constantly asked if they could do more. When I went to the restroom, they prepared the facilities so that it was ready to use. When I boarded the plane, they asked my preferences about being woken up, and when I’d like to eat. When I fell asleep, they closed my window for me, and checked up on me every time I coughed (darn asthma!). They literally couldn’t do more without encroaching on maid territory. They are simply the best.
Overall Score
Qatar Airways business class is a cut above the rest. I used to believe that Asia carriers such as Singapore Airlines, or ANA had the best service. But I stand corrected. From the way the crew personally comes to introduce themselves before the flight, to how each of the crew makes an effort to memorize your name and really make you feel special. I truly believe this is the Apex Airline.
