The Park Hyatt Kyoto marks my 2nd, or 3rd, stay at Hyatt’s top brand. When thinking about a Category 8 Hotel- It must have immaculate service, gorgeous views, comfort in the extreme and an attention to detail that would make SCP-173 nervous. It’s not every day that I get to stay right off Kyoto’s famed Higashiyama shopping district, but when I do it’s well worth it. Without further ado, I present my review of my Favorite hotel in Kyoto.

Location

The Park Hyatt is located in the Northern part of Kyoto in the Higashiyama district. It is crowded, and I was honestly taken aback by how many people and cars can crowd the streets at once.

Traffic near the hotel

There are shops everywhere, and everywhere you look you will find dozens of young men and women clad in Kimono, and Yukata so sick that you’ll swear you caught Covid, again. The views are breathtaking, and the ambiance of the being trapped in time is admirable but fleeting. I wish I could have stayed here a month to fully see and do everything, but I am not there - yet. Even still, if you do decide to stay here in old town Beverly Hills you will find yourself surrounded by plenty of good eats and things to buy.

The Room

I got a 2 Category upgrade to a Deluxe room with a private garden.

It was massive! The room looked right out of a movie. Everything was perfect from the design, the color scheme, the placement of furniture. I don’t have a single criticism. I slept like a baby in the bed that was honestly on par with my bed at home.

Now that’s saying something!

The furniture was modern, and the room had a rainfall shower that had enough pressure to make salt-n-pepa pull it. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and aspect of that room. It even had a little garden you could sit in and clear your mind…amitabha.

The Gym

This was another one of those times I didn’t personally experience the gym, as I was too busy exploring outside the hotel complex. From what I saw though, it looked fine. They had a nice workaround room, a spa, and a changing area with both a hot and wet sauna.

The onsen looked pretty fire as well.

Breakfast

Breakfast was one of my highlights. After being disappointed by Japanese breakfast throughout Nara and Tokyo. I was relieved that they offered a western option. I greatly enjoyed the apple and pear compote, the quiche, as well as the cereal and fruit options. You had a menu to pick from with numerous hot options as well:

I ended up picking the fried noodles, and probably the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. I am sorrowful I won’t get another chance to eat them thangs.

Overall Score

I know, I know, I have been doing nothing but singing praises of this place. But that’s because…

HAHAHAHA YOU ARE RIGHT, THIS PLACE IS PERFECT 5/5 5/5 5/5

Okay, let me be serious, I very much enjoyed this stay. The service was fantastic as soon as I checked in. The views were uncanny. I can’t believe I have to live under the same sky as those pancakes and not be able to eat them. What can I say? I have seen tonnes of people state that this is the only category 8 Hyatt that deserves the moniker. I am not ready to say, it's the only one, but it certainly lives up to the hype!
