The Hotel Lobby

Located in the all seasons' plaza, and connected to a mall with numerous food options. The Conrad Bangkok is a nice, cheap, luxury hotel. Within a 5-minute walk, you will find a 7-11 and several banks where you can get the essentials as well as have access to plenty of cash. You can get here via a grab or taxi for about 350 THB, or 8 dollars. It takes about 30 minutes. The only thing that sours me on this place, isn’t the hotel itself- but the location and how it, it is near some unsavory characters who would love to take advantage of unknowing tourists.

Ask me how I know

Location

View outside the room

There are plenty of things to do, near and around the hotel. I would say it’s mostly safe to walk around (during the day), and there is lots of security and police around. To the left of the hotel entrance is a small market akin to a hawker center in Singapore with cheap eats, with many locals around. To the right, a mall with a supermarket called TOPS. In the mall you will find everything from Korean food, to Japanese, Boba tea, and even KFC. There should be something to eat regardless of what you budget. If you don’t feel like going out, the room service is reasonably priced and very fast.

Check in Experience

hallway leading up to lounge

Due to my diamond status with Hilton, I was able to check in through the executive lounge on the 29th floor. It was the same elevated experience I have come to expect from all the Conrads with lounges. They bring you a welcome drink, they take your passport and check you in. Then come sit down with you to explain your benefits, breakfast time, and hors d’oeuvres.

Breakfast

Breakfast

The breakfast is actually excellent, surprisingly. They had a good selection of fruits, drinks, hot foods, cold foods and MEAT. I liked the fact how they had a nice Buffett, but also had a dedicated menu with genuinely tasty options besides just egg-based ones (I am calling you out, Japan)

If you are into eggs, they have an omelette station as well. The breakfast is in the lounge from 7-10 am. There are great views to accompany the great food as well.

The Room

Executive king room

I reserved an executive king room. I didn’t get a suite upgrade, but that’s okay. The room was newly renovated, and the size was just right. I enjoyed the 4k TV with the chrome-cast as well. The entire reason for coming to this hotel was for the welcome amenity that they place on your bed on check in. Conrad usually gives you a Conrad bear themed on the hotel’s location; however, Thailand is a bit special and you can get a Conrad elephant. My wife likes to collect these, so we had to stop on by.

The bathroom

The bathroom has optional privacy, that isn’t set by default, so be careful if you are in a rush to use the restroom and someone else is in your room. They can see everything.

The bed is firm but very comfortable, they have a “Pillow menu” you can use to pick pillows you find the most comfortable. As a result, I had a great night of sleep and must have slept 9 or 10 hours.

Overall Score

It’s a bit tough to give this place a 5. Although it is a significant value, and the service is world-class. The company this hotel keeps near its premises left a bad taste in my mouth, and for that, I won’t be back, nor recommend anyone stay here. I will go with a:

4/5

It’s good, and if you don’t have much cash to swing, it’s not a bad option. You can look forward to the breakfast, and the service but don’t look anyone near a taxi or tuk-tuk in the eyes outside the hotel. It can get scary quick.
